Strange Epiphanies From When the Bus Broke Down (Week 3 Extra Credit)

So our bus broke down yesterday around 11 pm. Feeling the change in motion and hearing some of the commotion going on outside, I was rocked from my semi-comfortable slumber. I thought about going out and helping, but my knack for automobiles is leagues lower than my understanding of robotics and embedded systems, so I scrolled through my collection of movies and decided to check out Easy Rider. Although the film appeared to have a slow start, thinking about the piece as a whole was quite eye-opening. Being a blue collar historian I recall the turbulence of the 60's as free love, long hair, and musicians like Jimi Hendrix that shook up the status quo, but I never took the time to reflect on what some of America's rebuttals to this new "Hippie" movement may have looked like. Before violence came into play, the scene in the cafe where the southern townsmen list their grievances against Wyatt and Billy took me by surprise. It simply never occurred to me that there were places where certain people like Wyatt were not welcome, rather they were white or not.
I have concluded that although racism is about race, discrimination doesn't care what you look like.
